Chapter 7 Chris Potter

For Harry Potter this night was the longest night of the entire summer. Harry Potter was going to be meeting his brother for the first time in just a few hours, but it seemed like weeks away. He was having another dream about his brother. In it all Chris would say was, “Soon little brother, soon.” Then everything went dark for a very long time or so it seemed. Then all of a sudden Harry hears Mrs. Weasley calling him down for breakfast. Harry didn’t want to get out of bed. He wanted to go back to sleep so he could try and talk to his brother again. “Harry James Potter get your bum down here right this instant. If you don’t eat breakfast we won’t go to Diagon Alley and talk with your brother.” Mrs. Weasley shouted up the stairs. At the mention of his brother Harry shot out of bed and quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs. In the process he ran into Cho and almost knocked her down the stairs. “Sorry Cho. I want to get to Diagon Alley as soon as possible. I can’t wait to see my brother.” Harry said. “It’s alright babe, Mrs. Weasley just sent me up to see if you are awake because it’s like 8:30.” Cho replied. “Is it that late already?” Harry asked. “Come on you are wasting time, dear.” Mrs. Weasley shouted. “I’m coming.” Harry called back. After scarfing down four helpings of breakfast Harry went to wait in the living room to wait until they left for Diagon Alley. They were planning on leaving at a quarter till ten. The hour before they departed the Burrow seemed to be the longest forty-five minutes in Harry’s life. Finally, at nine forty-five they all used floo powder to get to Diagon Alley. It has been almost two years since Harry was at the Leakey Cauldron and Diagon Alley, because they went to the Quidditch World Cup Finals last year and Mrs. Weasley did their shopping. Harry looked around the Leakey Cauldron to try and locate his brother, but then he realized that he didn’t even know what his brother even looked like. Then he spotted Makenzie, a fellow Gryffindor and Quidditch player. Makenzie played chaser on the house team. “Hey, Makenzie. So what are you doing here?” Harry asked. “Well, other than getting my school stuff I’m meeting my boyfriend, your brother. He should be here in a few minutes. He said to meet him at Quality Quidditch Supplies. I don’t know why so don’t ask.” She replied. “Well lets get out there I don’t want to be too late.” Harry said. “Yeah, he’s probably already there. He has been so excited waiting for today. He almost went to the Weasley's twice.” Makenzie said. Harry almost ran out of the Leakey Cauldron to Diagon Alley in his excitement. After tapping the correct bricks on the wall the doorway appeared. Harry had almost forgotten how amazing Diagon Alley looked. While they were walking down the lane to meet Chris they ran into Draco Malfoy. “What, did you bring along your pet pig, Potter?” Malfoy sneered. “No, I brought along a boxer who could clean your clock any time of the day.” Harry replied. “Good, I’ve been looking for a servant ever since we lost our house elf.” Malfoy sneered. Harry looked around to tell Makenzie to go and get Chris, but she wasn’t in sight. She must have already gone to get him. A few seconds later Makenzie reappeared in the group. A few moments later a tall boy with brown hair and blue eyes behind a pair of glasses appeared wand pulled. “Back off Malfoy.” The boy said. “Mind your own business.” Malfoy sneered. “You are teasing my cousin, I think that it is my business.” The boy replied. “That’s it. We duel.” Malfoy sneered angrily. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you son.” Came the voice of Lucius Malfoy. He walked over to the boy who was standing up for Dudley. “Don’t hurt him too bad, Chris.” Lucius said. “I just plan on teaching him a lesson, Lucius.” Chris said. “Enough of this crap. Expelliarmus!” Malfoy shouted. And three wands flew out of Chris’s pockets. “You shouldn’t have done that Draco.” Lucius said. “Why not, now he doesn’t have a wand and can’t fight.” Malfoy pointed out. “Expelliarmus!” Chris shouted and Malfoy went flying into the wall and all four wands went flying into Chris’s hands. He walked over to Lucius and handed him Malfoy's wand. “Don’t wake him till we are out of sight he will be pretty mad and I don’t want to hurt him.” He told Lucius. Harry and the gang were standing by speechless. Chris turned to them and put his arm around Makenzie. “Well, shall we get going the rest of the team is waiting for us.” He said. “What are you talking about?” Harry asked. “I am the new Quidditch captain. And I have ordered us some new uniforms and we need to go and get fitted.” Chris replied. “Why did you move me to keeper?” Harry asked. “So you can get used to that broom I gave you.” Chris stated. “But –” Harry started but Chris cut him off. “We will talk about it later.” He said. “Alright, fine.” Harry replied. After they were fitted for their brand new scarlet and gold uniforms they went to buy their new books and supplies. They stopped at Gringotts first. They went to the Weasley's vault first and Mrs. Weasley pulled out almost all of their money. “Molly I will pay for the school supplies today don’t worry about it.” Chris said. “But, you’ve already done so much for us already.” Mrs. Weasley protested. “Nonsense, you have done more for me that I could never repay you.” Chris responded. He then gave her a look that she didn’t want to argue with. Was she afraid of him. Harry thought. After it seemed that they were done arguing they stopped at Harry’s vault. As usual he felt really guilty that he had so much money at such a young age, and his friends only had enough to get second hand things if that. He pulled out enough money to buy his books and other supplies and quickly shut the door to his vault. The final stop at Gringotts was Chris’s vault. When his vault was opened Harry’s jaw hit the floor. He had thought that what his parents had left him was a fortune, but compared to what he seen before him right now was like hitting the jackpot at the slots in a casino. “Where did you get all this money?” Harry asked. “Mum and Dad left me the same amount of money as they left you but over the years I have been doing a lot of work and not really using it so my money built up. I have been working with the ministry more recently. I have been helping train the Aurors further than what they learn in Auror School.” Chris replied. After Chris filled what was probably like twenty bags with money they left to do their shopping. While they were in Flourish and Blotts Hermione pulled Chris aside so she could talk to him. She is probably asking him what she should do with Ron.. Harry thought. Harry also wanted to ask Chris about this book he wrote, but that will probably be talked about later. When they were finished with all of their shopping they headed back to the Leakey Cauldron. “Tom butterbeers all around, on me.” Chris said. “Let’s get a table in the back I don’t want a lot of people to listen in on this.” They walked to a secluded corner in the back of the tavern, and Tom and couple waiters brought every one bottles of butterbeer. “Ok I am going to start at the beginning so bear with me. I was born exactly 2 years and four months before you Harry. As soon as I could hold a wand dad started teaching me spells with his wand. By the time I was two I had mastered most of the spells dad was teaching me. Shortly before you were born dad started teaching me how to become an animagus. I had that mastered by the time you were about six months old. After that I stayed in animagus form mostly in case someone did find out where we were and only Dumbledore knew I even existed. I'm sure Hagrid knew though. Because for an entire year mum and dad and I, well just mum and dad planned for that just incase instance. Well what they planned was that if Voldemort ever did come dad would go and hold him off for me to transform into a cat so he didn’t find me. And he didn’t even know I existed. Well, he killed dad and I heard him hit the ground, and I knew that he was dead. Then Voldemort started to laugh. You’ve heard it so I don’t need to describe it. Then he came up the stairs. I heard each of his footsteps. And every one of them filled me with more dread but I knew what I had to do. I had to wait that was all I could do. Then he blew the door off of your room Harry. Mum could have fought back but in order for her to protect you she couldn’t. I sat there while she begged for him to kill her instead of you. Therefore securing your protection. Then is cold shrill voice spat out those dreaded words. And as the curse hit mum right in the chest I watched as the life left her eyes. I watched as her body fell to the floor in what seemed like slow motion. And then he turned his wand on you. Now it was my turn to do what had to be done. As soon as he got out the last syllable of the curse he used to murder our parents I leapt at his face trying to claw out his eyes. The curse hit you right on the forehead and was reflected by the protection mum gave you. I felt the curse coming back just like it was planned. And I leapt off of his face just in time. How ever I did get nicked on the paw but Voldemort had no time to react it hit him with twice the force of the actual curse. I put a shield charm around you just in time because the house exploded when the force of the curse hit Voldemort. His body was destroyed too. After all the rubble settled I transformed back into a human and retrieved mum and dad’s wands and transformed into a puppy to watch over you until someone came to get you. I would have taken care of you but I was only three. After a little while Sirius came and he pet me on the head and took one look at the rubble of the house and he was furious. He kept mumbling something under his breath. Then Hagrid showed up. Sirius told him to take his motorbike to take you to the Dursley's. Then Hagrid took off. Sirius transformed into a dog and ran off sniffing the ground as he ran. Now I know that he was searching for Peter. Well after Sirius took off I went to try and find somewhere to live. Well Lucius was in the area and he picked me up, and yes I do know that he went to Voldemort in that graveyard and I am very disappointed in him. However it seems that he is recovered from that slip. And if I find out he has another one….ok I’m getting off topic sorry. Ok so I lived with Lucius and Narcissa until I got tired of Lucius using the unforgivable curses on me and I figured out how to nullify them. Not now let me finish please. After I left the Malfoy's I went to stay with the squib that lives down the street from you. Don’t look at me like that yes there is a squib her name is Mrs. Figg. Yes the cat lady whose house smells like cabbage. I placed myself there as one of her `cats’. I was one of the ones she didn’t get rid of after breaking her leg. Then I just kept an eye on you till I had to go to Hogwarts. Then I met Makenzie and fell madly in love with her. And of course she had heard of you but like I said nobody knew I existed until I got to Hogwarts. And I told her the story up to this point of my life. And we’ve been together ever since. Yes, I was the one who was with her at the Yule Ball last year. Now I kept an eye on you last year. Through all of the tasks that you performed and let me tell you I was worried out of my mind that I couldn’t protect you. I promised mum and dad that I would take care of you no matter what. Do you know why you survived that attack by Voldemort two months ago? One thing that you had going for you was that your wands shared a common core. That core is in my wand as well. I know Fawkes gave two feathers specifically for wand making how ever I had my wand specially made with a feather from Fawkes. The other thing that you had going for you was that you have a pure heart and soul. Although you have hatred and anger in you, you don’t use that to intentionally hurt people. And Voldemort has a soul that is as dark as onyx. After I seen you comeback from that graveyard I knew it was time to tell you about me. It was time that you had a real family. And here we sit. Do you have any questions?” Chris said. “How did you learn to resist the unforgivable curses?” Harry asked. “Well, you are just going to have to read my book now wont you.” Chris said. After Harry asked a few more questions and Chris answered some of them everyone was exhausted. Chris and Makenzie went upstairs together. Then everyone else went upstairs and went to sleep.
